Chiropractic Care Effective for Herniated Discs
A recent study published in the October 2013 issue of the Journal of Manipulative and Physiology Therapeutics, showed the effectiveness of chiropractic care for herniated discs in the neck confirmed by MRI.
The study consisted of 50 patients with a mean age of 44 years. They all experienced neck pain with severe pain down the length of the arm. They received chiropractic adjustments 3 – 5 times per week for the first 2 – 4 weeks and then 1 – 3 times per week thereafter until the patient was asymptomatic. All patients were evaluated after 2 weeks, 1 month then 3 months.
After two weeks of chiropractic care, 55.3% of all patients reported being significantly improved and none reported being worse.
After one month of chiropractic care, 68.9% of all the patients reported significant improvement.
After 3 months, 85.7% of all patients were significantly improved with no patient being worse.
Chiropractic care is a valid alternative from surgery for those suffering with neck pain and associated arm pain, caused by herniated discs in the neck.
